February Stated Session

2022-02-07T17:10:36-08:00

Dear Nile Officers and Ladies of the Household,

This Wednesday, February 2nd, our Nile Stated Session will be preceded by the Queen’s Tea luncheon, at 11:30 am, for which there will be no charge.  Should you wish to contribute to the Queen’s Project for the Temple, there will be a jar on the sign-in table.

The Patrol is planning to have a wonderful purse silent auction, as well, with many purses filled with all sorts of wonderful “extra surprises”.  Don’t hesitate to join in the fun bidding.

Princess Recorder will be bringing the dues cards to session.  If you haven’t paid next year’s dues, you can do so at the session and pick up your card at the same time.  Also, if you have proposals ready to go, please  get to the Princess Recorder before session.

Stated Session starts at 12:30 pm.  The February Session is the traditional Memorial service for those members who have passed; the officers are wearing white.

I look forward to seeing you Wednesday, and be sure to let me know if you are an officer and can’t make it for any reason.  Nile Love, Queen Gail

What time of year is it? It’s dues time.

2022-03-05T16:03:52-08:00

Hi Ladies – In an effort to save money for the Temple and to get this notice out in a timely manner, we are trying something new. After all, we ARE forward-thinking women who aren’t afraid to try new things. This is your annual dues notice sent via email. No written notices will be sent (except to those ladies without email) which saves the Temple approximately $2 per MEMBER.

ANNUAL DUES NOTICE

It is time to renew your Annual Daughters of the Nile Membership. Nydia Temple’s annual dues ($32) and Supreme Temple Per Capita ($9) total $41.00 through March 31, 2023.

Dues may be paid by cash, check, Venmo (@Jennifer-Moyer-60), or credit card. Please note that a $2.00 fee applies to credit card payments. (*Make checks out to Nydia Temple.)

Members might consider adding an additional amount with their dues payment to help support our Retention Fund for members with financial issues, or to contribute to the General Fund of the Temple.

  • If you have a GOLD dues card (2021 current), please pay $41.00 to renew your membership for 2022.
  • If your card is WHITE (2020), you are behind for one year. Please remit $82.00 to bring your status current and to renew for 2022.
  • If your card is GREEN (2019), your membership is in danger of lapsing. If your dues remain unpaid by March 31, 2022, your membership will be terminated. Please contact the Pr. Recorder to make arrangements, we can work with you.
  • NOTE: Affiliated/Plural members pay dues only $32.00. Life members pay Per Capita only $9.00.

If you are currently unable to pay, contact Pr. Recorder at (503)888-2562 or by email: nydiarecorderno4@gmail.com. You are valued and we can assist you.

Send payment to:

PQ Jennifer Moyer, Pr. Recorder
1431 NW 19th Street
Gresham OR 97030-3647

Thank you all for your cooperation with this new process. By saving money here, we can better direct our efforts to supporting the children and the Shriners Hospitals.

Winter Ceremonial

2022-01-17T10:53:04-08:00

Dear Ladies of our Nydia Temple household,

Given the latest statistical information regarding this continuing pandemic, your line officers and I have made the difficult, yet we feel wise decision to change the in-person Ceremonial scheduled for this Sunday to an on-line zoom event.  The health and safety of our members comes first and foremost in our hearts and minds.

We will happily welcome our new members into the fold, with an “Obligation Only” ceremony via Zoom, same time at 2:00 pm.  The zoom link may be requested from PQ Kathy Walliker or PQ Jennifer Moyer, Princess Recorder.

Following the ceremony, we will still have our lovely tea party, virtually.  So get out your favorite tea set and prepare to enjoy socializing with each other virtually for a while that afternoon.

God be with each and every one of you!  Stay safe and know that you are treasured by all of us at Nydia Temple.

Nile Love to you, Your Queen Gail

Let’s think positively, do what we can for others, and make it the best year possible!

January 5th is our next Stated Session, at the Al Kader Shrine Center.  While we will continue to wear masks and socially distance as much as possible, I am happy to report that we can meet in person.

We will begin with lunch at 11:30 am, provided by our Patrol Unit for $10.  Lunch will be commercially prepared chicken Caesar salad, tomato basil soup, rolls, M&M ice cream and drinks.

Session will start at 12:30 and business will include a paper ballot vote on an important issue, presentation of next year’s budget, as well as planning for our next Ceremonial on January 16th.

Nile Love to all,

Queen Gail Mitchell Martin

The Holiday Season

2022-01-02T13:15:23-08:00

Dear Ladies of our Nydia household,

The holiday season is upon us and in spite of the pandemic restrictions ebbing only slowly, we have much to celebrate and be thankful for.  Every day that we are granted in this life, is a gift, and we have the opportunity to give the gift of our time, our talents, our friendship and our financial support to the dear children and staff at the Shriners Hospital.

I hope you will join us at our January 16th Ceremonial, to help in welcoming our new members.  And keep those proposals coming in!

As your queen, I want to thank everyone of you for your part in our beautiful organization, and to wish you a healthy and Happy New Year in 2022.

Nile Love to you, Queen Gail Mitchell Martin

PS: Our pin-ons for December’s Session were snowmen, graciously made for us by PQ Ann Myers. I wrote the following wee poem about them:

The snowman stands beneath the sun
So grateful for the chilly day,
He bears no grudge that he can’t run,
He knows he’s much more safe that way.
The children built him, bit by bit,
Their happy laughter filled the air,
The snowman felt the joy of it,
For he exists because they care.
These pin-ons are my gift to you,
In hopes that they will make you smile,
We care for the children too,
As faithful as the river Nile.
